What Type 2 – Type 2 EV Cable length should I use? Measure the length needed to power your vehicle from the charge points. Here at EVSE, we find that most 5m cables cover the majority of charging stations. The 7m and 10m offer our customers freedom and flexibility in charging and are ideal for EV drivers who have a long distance between their car inlet and their charging station outlet. However the longer the cable will result in an increase in weight.
Why does EVSE offer a superior 2 year replacement warranty?
We are confident in the ability of our cables, so much so that we are happy to replace them in the rare occasion it does breakdown. Our superior build is tried and tested for the Australian climate, this means that our products are tested to withstand the great Australian heat. These cables are here to empower our clients so they can use public stations with confidence, as we all know, more public charging stations means more electric vehicles on our roads. Due to our tough design, these products are built to last. This is a positive for the environment as it requires less cables to be manufactured.
What does EVSE mean by lightweight cables? Our cables take advantage of a higher quality copper that is lightweight and more portable for everyday use by drivers. Electrical conductivity is a measure of how well a material transports an electric charge. By using a higher grade of copper we achieve the required electrical transmission without the burden of excessive weight. The TPE Rubber used is also designed for improved elasticity and durability.

How to Use
It’s simple! Use the smaller plug side know as the male to plug into the charger and the larger female plug into the vehicle.
What is the Difference between a Single & Three Phase Type 2 EV Cables
It’s essentially speed. A single phase EV cable can only use 1 electricity phase to input power into your vehicle. This means a maximum of up to 45km of range per hour. As the name suggests a 3-phase Type 2 EV cable can utilise 3 -phase of electricity to power an EV. However be mindful that final charging speeds will be determined by your cars maximum onboard charging capacity. The drawback of a 3-phase cable is the increased weight. Learn more here
Lightweight Type 2 Charging Cables?
By taking advantage of superior quality copper we can produce lightweight cables that are more practical for everyday use. Copper quality helps determine the electrical conductivity of a material. Furthermore our connector plugs have silver plated contacts to further enhance electrical transmission. This is why we have an industry leading warranty. Because it’s a better EV cable . Finally we utilise TPE Rubber that provides improves elasticity and durability. What makes a great cable? Great manufacturing with quality ingredients.
History of the Type 2 EV Cable
Type 2 connectors were originally designed in Germany in 2009 and have since become mandated in the European Union. They were designed to replace J1772 plugs and have since become the world’s leading form of Electric Vehicle connector. Current generation type 2 connectors can power your vehicle at 22kW per hour. Furthermore this standard has been recommend in Australia CP: Control Pilot- Communications, used to relay data between the car and the station PP: Proximity Pilot. What is the difference between a basic and premium portable electric vehicle charger? The difference between our basic and premium portable electric vehicle charger (EVC) is in the smart LED display. This screen monitors the temperature, time and power status of your EVC. This gives you an advantage over the basic portable EVC as you can confirm that your station is working effectively due to the transparency that the LED display provides for you.
Can I use an extension cable for the portable EVC ? No. We do not recommend the use of an extension cable for a 10-amp portable EVC, as the extension cables are not designed for high power usage. The current going through the portable EVC is not supported on a regular extension cable and can overheat the extension cable, damaging the cable extender and creating a potential fire hazard. Instead you should consider owning our 9m Portable Type 2 EV Charger, that has the internal cabling suited for electric car charging.
What is the importance of the temperature setting? The Temperature setting gives electric vehicle drivers a sense of confidence. This sensor monitors the temperature and modulates the power output to prevent any risk of fire.
Advanced Safety Features IEC/EN Standards Our EVC is one of the few that meet all Australian requirements. This means we meet required control and safety functions. This standard applies to portable devices performing simultaneously the functions of detection of the residual current, of comparison of the value of this current with the residual operating value and of opening of the protected circuit when the residual current exceeds this value.
Can I Charge in the Rain? Yes it can, the product is rated at IP66, meaning that it can withstand water and ingrest This means that the portable EVC is suitable to power your vehicle in the rain. IP66 Enclosure – IP rated as “dust tight” and protected against heavy seas or powerful jets of water.
Where I can use this portable station? This portable station can be used on any standard 10amp power outlet. We often say you can use any standard outlet that you would use to power your kettle or microwave. As mentioned, ensure that the charging station is close to your vehicle, as extension cables are not recommended.
What is the difference between a charging cable and a portable EVC? A portable EVC plugs in to a 10amp socket and your automobile, whilst a charging cable plugs into a universal electric vehicle station and your car. Ideally, we would recommend that the electric vehicle driver carry both, to ensure they can make the most of all power outlets available.
What is the difference between a 10amp and a 15amp charging station? The difference in the 10amp and the 15amp charging stations lies within the charging speeds. For example, a 8 amp portable EVC powers your car at approximately 10kms/per hour whilst a 15amp electric vehicle charger powers your automobile at approximately 20km/ per hour. Electric car users can often be confused between the two power outlets, the main difference is that the earth (bottom pin) is significantly larger on the 15-amp outlet. Please refer to the image below. 10amp outlets are most commonly found around the house, where a 15amps are found at some households or commercial buildings.
