How the EV Charging Cost Calculator Works

Our EV charging cost calculator estimates your average weekly charging cost using four main inputs:

Electricity rate: The amount you pay per kilowatt-hour (kWh).
Solar contribution: The estimated percentage of charging supplied by solar power.
Weekly driving distance: The number of kilometres you typically drive each week.
Vehicle size: Small, medium or large EVs use different amounts of electricity.

The calculator estimates the electricity needed for your weekly driving distance and applies your electricity rate after considering the selected solar contribution.

Estimated weekly charging cost = Weekly electricity usage × Electricity rate

The result is an estimate only. Your actual charging cost may vary depending on your EV model, battery efficiency, charging losses, electricity plan, driving conditions and whether you charge during off-peak hours.
